Musical Notes Arts Sunday (May 4) is sneaking up on us! With only a few weeks left to prepare, please be thinking about your contribution and then contact me with your interest. All kinds of art is appropriate. If you do your art to make yourself and others happy and to create a richer relationship with god, please let us know about it by exhibiting it on Arts Sunday on May 4th. Along with the art work display in the sanctuary, there will be special music during both worship services. Also, we will host Deb Ward, a disciple from Broadway Christian Church, who will speak to us about the healing arts. This Arts Sunday is going to be wonderful! Please think about being involved. Blessings, Eileen
Help Needed Janis is in need of additional volunteer help part-time in the office. We need someone who would be willing to take over the typing of the OCN. This would be approximately a 2 day commitment twice a month which could possibly be done on a home computer. If you would be willing to take on this job, please contact Janis at 442-0336. Thanks in advance., Dorothy Grant, Board Chair
Arts Sunday The Worship Arts Ministry team is excited about Arts Sunday coming up May 4. In addition to your wonderful and varied art, we will have a special speaker, Deb Ward, who will bring a message on how the arts can be beneficial in spiritual and physical healing. Please stay tuned for more about Deb and her ministry in the next publication.
Tape and CD Ministry Worship Arts Ministry is continuing to work on an updated system for providing tape recordings and/or CD’s of our worship services. Current audio media is provided on the shelf near the mailboxes. For more or older media, look in the newly cataloged file in the library. Please give your written comments to Marjorie Audsley, Jan Dean, or Pauli Landhuis. Thank You.
New Enhanced Hearing Monitors There are now five new enhanced hearing monitors available and located near the West entrance door to the sanctuary. These are available to anyone to use during the services. Please deposit them back in the baskets provided after the service you attend. Antibacterial cleanser is provided for your convenience. Women's Fellowship Craft Day This activity has been canceled for now and will probably be rescheduled in September. Questions? Contact the organizers Amy Cook (email: amycookcrafts@yahoo.com), Joy Morgan (email: jpmorg@socket.net), or Edie Pigg (email: piggea@missouri.edu).
Booknotes From the Library Be sure to browse the family videos in the hall bookcase, and the children's videos at the front of the children's section in the library. We are constantly rotating these videos to make room for new additions for you to enjoy! April is not only a time for green grass and colorful flowers, but a month-long celebration of our libraries. Can you imagine a community without any of these? Although Olivet's library does include some wonderful classics, be sure to not become a classic reader using Mark Twain's definition of "classic": a book which people praise but don't read. If you are good at numbers, enter our Guess How Many Books in the Library Contest. Just come look around in the library, and leave your written guess in the bowl on the circulation desk before the end of the month. Don't forget to leave with a good book to read!

Olivet Shawl Ministry—Planning Meeting... Thank you to all of you who have expressed interest in the Olivet Shawl Ministry. Our first meeting will be Sunday, April 13, after late worship—from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the church. A light lunch will be provided. This meeting will be our "getting started" get-together. We will decide when, where, and how often to meet. I will have patterns available for knitters and crocheters. Some of you are just learning how to work w/ yarn, not to worry, as there are others among us who are experienced crafters. I look forward to beginning this ministry w/ you. Please RSVP by email (lfgraue@gmail.com) or phone (875-2721) by Friday, April 11, so we know how many to expect for lunch. In peace and hope, Linda Graue
You are invited to share a new opportunity at Olivet: Adult Group Interactive Bible Study Next meeting: 12:30-2:30 April 13 Other meetings: April 20, 27, May 4, 18 [no meeting on Mother’s Day.] This week’s topic: Book of James study continued Introduction by Larry Brown Activities in Small Groups , led by Pauli Landhuis. If you can come, we’d love to see you! No need to feel you must attend every session to get something out of this dynamic and relevant study. Olivet will have available study materials for participants – so you still have time to pick up a book if you haven’t already. The following is not required… but if you want to reimburse Olivet for your study book, give Pauli Landhuis your check for $12.95 sometime as the study goes on. This week, we will be serving a simple soup and sandwich meal right after church. You may also choose to bring your own sandwich. As you know, Olivet ever strives to have easy-going and flexible eating arrangements. Do recall that we’ll need to know a few days in advance if you’ll be needing childcare. What’s to be gained from this activity? Background for the reading, your time allocated sometime during the week to study, discussion with persons of differing viewpoints, sharing, agreeing, disagreeing, expanding your vision, evoking discussion from others in the group, summarizing, and growing closer to each other as we seek to illuminate God’s vision. Assignment for those who are participating for the first time: Read the Book of James in your favorite Bible translation. [contains only 5 short chapters – is a pretty do-able assignment!] Assignment for those who have study books: Read Chapter 1 in the study book prior to the study April 13th. It is NOT necessary to have a study book to be MOST WELCOME at this study! Hope to see you at Olivet, in the Sunday school wing, this Sunday after 11 am church, if you can squeeze it in! Pauli Landhuis

51 st Annual Olivet Church BBQThanks to everyone for all that they have been doing (and will be doing!) for the 51st Annual Olivet BBQ that will be held on Saturday, June 21st. It will be another great event this year, and all of you have a critical role in that success. Rockie Alden has been working with Janis McCray to update the Committee Chair lists as well as suggested committee members. Once all of that is completed, we’ll make sure to get all of that out to you! We are hopeful that all of this can be completed in the next week. Once we have the lists compiled, we’ll be asking our Chair or each committee to call and ensure their "worker bees" are set to go! As a reminder, we have a GOAL of selling 3,000 tickets this year. Hopefully, we’ll have more people than ever selling tickets. Given that it is a political year, their will be a large number of sales opportunities in front of us. Tickets will be going on sale soon…..so let’s be ready to go. Nothing stopping us now from already contacting some of our customers to let them know what’s coming! (Don’t forget…..$9 adult/$4 children in advance, $10 and $5 respectively at the door!). Thank you again for all that you do. Please call if you have any questions/suggestions/guidance/advice sympathies…. See you soon! Rex and Eileen Sharp Mike and Rockie Alden Jim and Vicki Spain-Past Chairs (we like reminding everyone of the Chairpersons Emeritus ranking of the Spain’s!)
